Search engine positioning is the daily race for me as a search engine optimizing expert. I get many times no differences in results and some of the sites are really stable. Just the other day i was writing some new articles and the results of that was that my position jumped a lot and Google was nice to my site again and got me a posistion 1 withing 25.600.000 hits.

It is not that bad but to prove the results of my top ranking for the search phrase "xhtml development" i took a screen shoot to also show that SEO is important and very interesting as a substitute to online marketing.

web design, xhtml css development, front end developer, web programmer... there are many nams on the same job with huge differences and i believe its needed to be cleaned up.

Media companies in the world done really know who or what experience they are looking for in a opening or a specific position. I have noticed that in Germany a internet specialist is he same as web designer in UK. A web designer is also a front end developer with mmore technical experience in XHTML and CSS. There are also web developers which are more related to the technical and back end programming, form functionality and uses maybe PHP, AJAX and MySQL as tools and technologies.

Its all a struggle so i wanted to clear it up a little bit.

Specification of a web designer:
A web designer might be a person that have graphics and esthetic interest in a website development. good in graphics design and have more experience in technical issues than a graphic designer. Have the idea of some HTML.

Specification of a front end developer:
I describe myself as a front end developer and i work with writing XHTML CSS code by hand, have full experience on cross browser and platform behavior and web stanndards development with W3C web standards.

Specification of a web developer:
Most often a person with deeper knowledge in PHP and server functionality, databases (SQL) and programming of website functionality, content management systems and also good knowledge of XHTML,CSS, AJAX, Javascript and so on.

Specification of a Search Engine Optimization expert:
A expert of SEO need to have good experience in front end development and the semantic structure of website architecture and web standards for absoute best possible results. Also know the publication standards for Google, Yahoo and online marketing tools, blog tools and link strategy expertise.

I consider myself a front end developer with SEO expertize.

Just for fun i was looking around the internet for websites that are related to the media business, marketing and traditional marketing firms that offer their clients websites and online communication platforms, as a suggestion to the traditional art and design work for print.

Guess what? working with the web standards and website development i found that it will be impossible to try to take the Internet to a descent standard level as long as we have all these, whats wrong with frontpage, graphic designers, to make website agencies to seriously think that a website can be professionaly developed from a photoshop file based on design and pretty appearance.

Yeah i got a little angry and i applied for some of the web design jobs for fun to see what they actually would say about web standards, accessibility and usability... wehh it would be all greek to them i guess??

I hope the world, at least the design focused marketing companies allover the world ould start to understand that internet is not a gallery where you hang your pretty advertising images but to start using the technology and actually make websites, not useless paitings made as websites...

I just wanted to lift this of my chest and open some eyes at this tage of the post and i will pray for a better future online and a interactive world where we all can actually can be proud off our work and technical experience...

Make the web a standard technology where everyone can visit a website and navigate even one does not have a mouse or maybe eyes to see...

Cheap flights Europe and the struggle with finding good airline tickets , even online, can be a terrible experience. I was trying to find a ticket to Copenhagen from Athens for he Greek Easter and to visit my home again after several years and i went to the regular websites i use to find good price tickets but was really ripped of if i would go for these prices. Not even Easy Jet has good prices any longer and its a rip off to try to find good price tickets on internet so i got this idea...

Advertising companies online need to be visible and show at the right websites where people find the way to the correct information and will go trough the rapid stages in order to get what they want and was looking for. Air tickets and cheap flights are advertised on thousands of websites but are they really fresh and in good shape, updated and really true... Sailing greece, I spend almost all my summers sailing around the Greek islands. With this small article I would like to share some sailing hints with you that will help you enjoy the most out of your sailing holidays. When moored or anchored, use your sun tent and stay under it most of the time. Our friend, the Sun, sometimes can be dangerous, especially during summertime.

Be cautious on board and if possible, always wear a pair of soft boat shoes. This way you will protect your feet and the deck surface. When sailing, avoid walking on deck without particular reason and in rough weather, remember to use your life belt.

Before operating the electric anchor winch, start the motor and run it at aprox 1.200 to 1.500 rpm in neutral. This is necessary in order not to exhaust the service battery, as the consumption of the winch is extremely high. Our recommendation is to low your anchor manually and collect it using the remote control. Whenever using the anchor winch (dropping or collecting your anchor) be very careful with your fingers. An electric anchor winch is a great facility but also extremely danger with careless use.

Many charter yachts are equipped with a switch with which you may connect the two batteries, to have more power to start your motor. You can keep them connected, as long as your motor is running. When you stop the motor, remember to disconnect them. This will protect you, to be without electric power in case that you will forget, for example, the electric refrigerator running. When you moor in a port, always have a fender between your yacht and the quay, so even if your anchor for any reason is unable to keep you in position, the yacht will not touch the quay. Living with garbage in Athens its a common monthly average thing that we have to live with, it seems. Garbage are allover Athens city several times a year and if it is not the garbage it is electricity strikes and we have not many options to do much about anything to live a descent life in the Athens today.

On the photo, taken right under my apartment in central of Athens, have been growing the last week and it starts to smell a little funny. Lucky me living on the 6th floor the odor is not reacing ,my balcony so I am one of the lucky ones... in this mess of work strikes in Greece...

I understand the workers striking because of low salaries and lack of health insurances in Greece. Unlike Sweden or many other Europe countries Greece don't pay a lot of salary, not even near 50% of any other European country. So garabage-guys, go for it, go get that money of yours and get a better life descent salary and a happy life in this normally beautiful country

Athens paralysed by snow

Its amazing how weather can paralyse a hole country in the European Union. I am talking about Greece and the snow that was expected this weekend. Its amazing how people react different to different weather, as a swede living in Greece im feeling good to see some of the home country weather, cosy winter weather and snowfall with biting winds ni my face on the way walking to the office.

Driving a car safely in Athens today has no positive effect anyway as the city of Athens is not open at all, it seems like people are afraid to leave their houses or are afraid of going to work or see a reason to not go to work at all. There are no services available, banks are closed and even small coffee shops are closed in general. Its like Greece are in war and the most terrible crisis are coming...

Allover Athens Greeks are putting chains on their car wheels thinking that this is the solution to safe driving, I'm itching my hair and feel like they don't have any clue what to do and I am probably right as they never have snow in Athens but i mean in the north of Greece are always snowing and it would not be a surprise.

Athens was also surprised in 2001-02 at new years with snow and cold weather in Athens, I was by then living in Glyfada near the seaside and it was really lovely.

Driving in this weather is normally a common thing for a swede but for a Greek Athenian living in the city where sun and relaxing is the most common way of living it must be confusing and weird to not really know what to do. Driving a car in this weather would not be a neccessary thing to do but so the Greek television is instructing drivers to put chains on their cars. As a swede living in this weather 4 months a year we never do this.

Putting snow-chains on the car is very dangerous when its just a little bit of snow in a city, because the chains has a very little part of it aligned to the asphalt and makes it just more slippery than the snow when it melts. Having 5 cm snow and chains is mostly most dangerous than just having tires on the car.

xhtml css standards implementation and understanding

I hear so often that the old school table html development is easier and better than the newer and most standardized xhtml to use and to develop. Its for me all wrong as one can control 99% of all items and alignment with the css and there is nothing easier then doing global changes and editing for the full website layout with xhtml and css.

My experience in the new field and updated and later technology is that
"you cant teach a old dog to sit" Thats a swedish say and means older developer are negative to new technologies, same as i was until i tested and really got into the
standard xhtml and css development. I was practising html without
any type of standard thinking and my sites was maybe ok in the cross browser check but never the similarity i can do today.

The best way to get better is to have external designers that make
designes and the layout for the new ideas of web design and one
will always be forced to find the solution for the concept delivered.

I really love xhtml and css and I have also started to study DOM-scripting as the new java-script standard to be more flexible and develop better dynamic solutions.

The only bad thing with new technology is that one need to train new
clients that still want to have pop-ups or new windows to open from a link. I try to avoid it by unobtrusive DOM-scripting solutions and its the only way to make validations of xhtml css websites.

earthquake in Athens

Well i woke up today about 07.15 because my bed was shaking, i undrstood it was a earthquake and it was my second shake here in Athens. I live on the 6th floor in central Athens and it was not really scaring though the building was shaking back and forth. I heard also neighbours appartment equipment break but I seem to be ok and nothing in my house was even falling down.

It seems to be a strong shake 5.6 Richter and i didnt really find it scary. I hope we are ok for now and that it was just a one time shake.

I was recently in one of the best tavernas in Athens, Greece to meet a good friend of mine. George actually guide me to this amazing place where one can eat a decent scrap of meal, highest qulity and absolute best Rakoumelo in Athens.

We ordered Pikelila of the grill and we got chicken, beef and potatoes in the bst way i have tasted this ever.

When you visit Athens dont forget to visit the taverna of To Katafygio, in Alexandras 38, Dafni. you can even call them for a table because evenings are very busy.

�ntligen har jag �terupptagit mitt gamla gamla intresse f�r fotografering och skaffat mig en ny gamlmal digitalkamera som jag tror kan vara riktigt bra med tanke p �att den var en proffskamera n�r den kom 1999. Det handlar om en Nikon D1 som �r Nikons flrsta digitalkamera och har d� halvformat i bildstorlek och ger ca 2Mpix kvalitet p� bilderna. Jag tycker kameran �r sk�n att h�lla och den ca 1,5 magnesiumhuset ger ett stabilt l�ga vid alla typer av fotograferingar.

Jag har nyligen �ven bes�kt Antika Olympia d�r jag tog en del bilder, dock inte med denna nygamla inhandlade proffskamera, nej, det f�r bli lite bilder fr�n Aten ich mina senare resor f�r att testa denna superkamera. Ja det var ju var den var n�r den kom f�r 8 �r sedan iallfall...
